JOY OF YOGA

THE MODALITY OF HATHA YOGA

Most modern yoga remains a dance of vanity, a departure from the traditional Hatha labour of structural rectification. We emphasize Sthira, the unshakeable steadiness of the frame over the common pursuit of flexibility. This method serves those who find no depth in transient 'flows' and require a practice as rigorous as it is remedial.

 SKELETAL RECTIFICATION

The body is a series of levers and pulleys and when the spine is collapsed the spirit follows. We use the Asana as a tool to pry open the seized joints and realign the skeletal blueprint and uwe don't 'stretch' muscles but the geometry of the body so it can support its own weight without pain. This method is for those who find no depth in trendy 'flows' and require a practice as rigorous as it is restorative.

THE LABOUR OF STILLNESS

True change happens when the mind wants to move, but the body remains still. We hold postures long after the 'recreational' student would have quit. This is the forge. It is in the fire of sustained stillness that chronic injuries are burned away and the physical constitution is hardened.

THE INTERNAL FURNACE

We breathe for regulation by utilizing traditional ratios of breath-retention known as Kumbhaka to generate an internal heat that softens the armored tissues of the body. This is the traditional way to prepare the nervous system for the stress of modern life and ensure the unshakeable stability of the frame.

The Heritage of Discipline

This discipline was tempered during an age before the sacred was cheapened into a common trade. Here, mastery cannot be purchased, as it is carved solely through the persistence of effort and endless repetition. No room is made for triviality, nor is there a bridge for those who lack resolve. The method survives exactly as it was handed down: rugged, exhausting, and uncompromising.
